Iona Mathieson is an RCVS-certified veterinary ophthalmologist who also teaches the next generation of vets at the University of Liverpool.
About Iona Mathieson
Iona qualified at the University of Glasgow Veterinary School in 1997 and began her career in mixed practice in the Highlands, before moving to small animal practice in England. In 2011 she gained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology, and today is the clinical director of an ophthalmology referral practice in the North West.
She regularly teaches undergraduate and post graduate veterinary surgeons and lectures in veterinary ophthalmology at the University of Liverpool. She is an RCVS advanced practitioner in Veterinary Ophthalmology.
In 2026 she joined the BVA eye testing panel and now provides this across the North West.
